Typhoon is a band from Oregon’s capital city, Salem, but they’re now based out of Portland. The “band” is pretty huge, currently they tour with 13 members playing everything from guitar, piano, bass and drums to autoharp, lap steel, cello, viola, violin, accordion and trumpet. The sound lies somewhere between indie rock, experimental pop and folk – with that many people contributing to the band, playing that many instruments, it makes sense that their musical reach is fairly broad. Typhoon has released two full-length albums, two EPs and a split seven inch with K Records recording artists, Lake. The bands most recent release is entitled ‘A New Kind of House’ and is receiving praise across the nation.

Multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter Laura Gibson grew up in a small isolated logging town called Coquille, in the South Coast region of Oregon, the daughter of the town’s kindergarten teacher and a forest ranger.

Since the release of 2009’s Beasts of Season, which NPR called “nothing short of a masterpiece” and Mojo called “both quietly devastating and life-affirming”, Gibson has seen her career swell to include everything from modeling in a Japanese fashion magazine, to receiving a standing ovation from an auditorium full of prison inmates, to a 3 1/2 hour improvised performance art piece with sound artist Ethan Rose and filmmaker Ryan Jeffery.

She is currently prepping her 3rd full-length record, which, according to Gibson is “the best thing I’ve made, ever”.

Lost Lander is a project founded by songwriter/forester Matt Sheehy when he began work on a new album with producer Brent Knopf. Now a quartet, the band lives and breathes in Portland, OR and features Dave Lowensohn (bass), Patrick Hughes (drums) and Sarah Fennell (keys).

The album, titled DRRT, was released on January 14th, 2012 and will be touring for most of the year.
