MODALITY

El Ten Eleven is an instrumental duo from Los Angeles. Armed with only bass, drums and looping pedals, they create surprising music that calls to mind Tortoise, Radiohead and Sigur Ros. Audience members at shows can’t believe how much sound is coming from just two guys, and people who listen to the record can’t believe that this music can be reproduced live, perfectly. El Ten Eleven is Kristian Dunn and Tim Fogarty. The have released three albums, earning generally positive reviews.

Baths is the main project of 21-year-old L.A. music-maker Will Wiesenfeld. Over the last six years, under the handle of [Post-Foetus], Wiesenfeld has gainfully explored the intersections and outer reaches of both electronic and acoustic music. With Baths, his eclecticism finds its greatest focus yet, in a hail of lush melodies, ghostly choirs, playful instrumentation and stuttering beats. Baths most recent release Cerulean (2010) received high praise from Pitchfork Media.

About EL TEN ELEVEN

“Their third record, These Promises Are Being Videotaped, is packed full of danceable melodies that put Ratatat to shame.” Spin.com

“The double-neck guitar is the ultimate signifier of musical masturbation and phallocentric crotch rocking. That is, unless you’re El Ten Eleven, the post-rock duo from Los Angeles, who lay down simple rhythms, then wield the finished product as mechanized dance jams.” Flaunt

“Once the record stops, you want more, and more, and more.” Filter

“DFA 1979 and Ratatat are obvious antecedents, but these guys place a great emphasis on layering and manipulating loops on top of a consistently bodyrocking beat.” RCRDLBL.com
